Job Summary
The Procurement Manager will coordinate closely with programs, engineering, planning, manufacturing, logistics, inventory, and shipping and receiving to ensure timely delivery of supplies that meet manufacturing requirements and program schedules. In this role, you will lead a growing team of procurement agents responsible for managing all general procurement activities for the company. We are seeking a detail-oriented, data-driven problem-solver who can navigate a high mix of program requirements, ensure government compliance, and implement innovative, strategic processes to scale our business.

The ideal candidate will effectively communicate potential risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders and senior leaders, using data to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement. Our goal is to become a leader in supply chain management, focusing on excellent customer service, fast response times, and on-time delivery. This role will oversee day-to-day procurement execution while driving strategic, data-informed projects and process improvements to elevate the organization and support the growth of the procurement team.

This position's internal job code is Procurement Agent. Our team is currently hiring for a Level K.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Development
    • Lead Procurement Operations: Establish and oversee supply chain execution to ensure on-time delivery at Millennium Space Systems
    • Team Management: Provide thoughtful and encouraging leadership to all direct reports, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
    • Diversity and Inclusion: Commit to creating and maintaining a workplace that supports diversity and inclusion
    • Mentorship: Mentor team members to maximize their potential, leading to overall team success
    • Coaching: Coach team members on achieving goals, developing necessary skills, and improving performance through feedback and demonstrations of desired skills

    • Stakeholder Communication: Proactively communicate with VPs, Directors, and Program Managers regarding status updates, critical paths, supply issues, and other areas of concern
  • Technical Responsibilities in Procurement
    • Risk Mitigation and Continuity: Mitigate risks and ensure continuity of supply to meet program requirements
    • PO Management: Develop, maintain, and monitor overall PO releases and supply deliveries, reporting issues affecting targets and collaborating with manufacturing, program execution and engineering teams as needed
    • Adaptability to Change: Account for changes in customer requirements and material availability delays, adjusting plans accordingly
    • Planning and Scheduling: Utilize best planning practices and exceptional communication to translate company IMS and forecast orders into achievable production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery
    • Sourcing Strategy: Develop and execute market-leading sourcing strategies for all commodities, including cost models, market assessments, risk evaluations, and total cost ownership considerations
    • Risk Reduction and Target Achievement: Create sourcing strategies that reduce risk and meet department targets, including payment terms, on-time delivery, and cost savings.
  • Communication, Process Improvements, and Metrics
    • Risk Management: Manage and escalate material supply risks to internal stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute mitigation plans
    • Escalation and Communication: Act as the escalation point for concerns, establishing best practices for communication and feedback on PO status, including material shortages, past due orders, and discrepancies with recommended solutions
    • Process Improvement Leadership: Identify and lead process improvement initiatives related to execution and planned growth, such as communication pathways, improved hand-offs, procurement optimization, KPI development, and employee training
    • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with logistics, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing departments to support operational and long-term scaling objectives
    • Performance Reporting: Ensure that plans, schedules, and performance metrics are available and regularly report progress to stakeholders for all commodities to support on-time delivery
  • Procurement Compliance
    • CPSR and Regulatory Compliance: Lead the team in preparing, issuing, and analyzing procurement packages compliant with CPSR, FAR/DFAR, and other government regulations
    • Data Accuracy: Drive accuracy in procurement master data and procurement packages
    • System Development: Champion the development of procurement systems for CPSR, NIST, FAR/DFAR, and AS9100 compliance

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1 year of management experience in Supply Chain
  • 3 years of experience working in Supply Chain

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of managing a procurement organization
  • 5+ years of experience with a BS/BA degree, or 3+ years with an MS/MA or MBA degree, or 7+ years of direct experience in procurement
  • Direct experience and working knowledge of agreement negotiations, terms and conditions (T&C) management, and procurement systems
  • Experience working in the aerospace, pharmaceuticals, or auto manufacturing industries

Summary Pay-Range

  • Level K: $118,150 - $173,750
